Jo Platt, MP for Leigh and Atherton, shares her experience of taking part in ukactive and Technogym’s Fit for Office challenge, which saw a record number of Parliamentarians compete to be the most active.

“Physical activity has always been an important part of maintaining both my physical and mental wellbeing.

“Like many people, I sometimes find it difficult to fit exercise into a busy schedule, but even a short walk, a cycle ride, or time spent outdoors can make a real difference to how I feel.

“Movement isn’t just about fitness – it’s about feeling healthier, reducing stress, building confidence and connecting with our communities.

“That’s why it’s so important that everyone, regardless of age, background or ability, has the opportunity to be active in a way that works for them.

“As the MP for Leigh and Atherton, I know how valuable access to local leisure facilities, green spaces and community sports initiatives can be in helping people lead healthier lives.

“Encouraging physical activity is one of the simplest and most effective ways we can improve health and wellbeing across our communities.

“I am proud to support efforts that inspire people to move more, and I encourage everyone to find an activity they enjoy – because every step, swim, cycle or workout can contribute to a healthier and happier future.”
