Introduction

Across both the Scottish Active Students research and the associated infographic, findings show that physically active students consistently experience better outcomes than inactive peers. Active students report higher personal wellbeing, greater mental wellbeing (higher SWEMWBS scores), and lower anxiety levels. They also show stronger social inclusion, being far less likely to feel isolated or left out. Academically, over 90% of active students expect a 1st or 2:1 compared with around 80% of inactive students, and they rate their employability skills—especially teamwork, communication and drive—more highly. Overall, regular activity significantly boosts health, confidence, academic success and job readiness.
