ukactive has announced the appointment of three new Non-Executive Directors to its Board: Dr Sonia Adesara, Jordan Cummins and Claudette Elliott.
Jordan Cummins joins as Non-Executive Director for Growth. He currently leads the Confederation of Business Industry’s (CBI) Competitiveness department, where he helps political and industry leaders tackle some of the UK’s biggest economic and societal challenges. He brings with him a wealth of experience from his time working overseas for the Ministry of Justice and has been responsible for the CBI’s recent Purpose Review as well as launching its first Health & Life Science department.
Through the ukactive Board, Jordan will support ukactive’s growth and commercial strategy as part of the Vision 2030 strategy to grow the sector’s reach and impact.
Dr Sonia Adesara joins as the Board’s Non-Executive Director for Health. She is a practising GP and campaigns to improve women’s healthcare and address health inequalities. Previously, she worked in national health policy as a former National Medical Director’s Clinical fellow. She is the interim chair of the Fabian Society and is on the board of Trustees for the charity Medact, which supports healthcare professionals in addressing social determinants of health.
Sonia’s expertise will help support ukactive to develop its health strategy and demonstrate to the Government and its agencies how the physical activity sector can play a crucial role in reducing health inequalities.
