ukactive has announced the winners of this year’s Fit for Office challenge, which saw a record 268 MPs, Peers and Parliamentary staff compete to be the most physically active in Westminster.
Now in its fourth year, the month-long competition ran throughout June and encouraged Parliamentarians to move more in recognition of the role played by physical activity in supporting the nation’s health, wellbeing, and growth.
Delivered by ukactive in partnership with Technogym, the challenge worked by tracking participants’ physical activity levels on the Technogym app. Users were awarded ‘MOVE’ points based on the intensity and duration of their activity.
It was a record year for participation, marking year-on-year growth since the challenge began in 2023.
Fit for Office 2026 top-scoring MPs:
- Caroline Nokes MP (51,357 MOVEs)
- Llinos Medi MP (48,237)
- Andy MacNae MP (43,485)
Fit for Office 2026 top-scoring offices:
- Daisy Cooper MP (116,307 MOVEs)
- Jonathan Hinder MP (89,560)
- Steve Witherden MP (82,235)
- Kirsteen Sullivan MP (50,339)
- Blake Stephenson MP (50,213)
The winning MPs were congratulated at Westminster by ukactive Senior Public Affairs & Policy Manager Stephen McLoughlin and Technogym UK Country Manager Ben Sandham, and the winning offices will receive their awards this week.
The campaign received widespread praise from Parliamentarians for encouraging them to be more active every day and recognise the importance of physical activity to the communities they serve.
This year’s challenge comes as the Government battles the consequences of declining physical and mental health across the population. In addition to growing pressure on the NHS, last year 148 million working days were lost in the UK due to sickness, costing the economy £14bn (ONS).
By encouraging Parliamentarians to move more, the Fit for Office challenge highlights how physical activity can support not only individual health and wellbeing, but workplace productivity and wider economic growth.
According to the UK Health & Fitness Market Report 2026, the physical activity sector generates more than £7.5bn in social value by improving life satisfaction and reducing health conditions.
Stephanie Peacock, Minister for Sport and MP for Barnsley South, said: “I was delighted to take part in this year’s ukactive’s Fit for Office Challenge. Staying physically active is incredibly important to me, both personally and as the Minister for Sport.
“I’d like to say thank you to ukactive for running the challenge and well done to all the offices that took part, it was a very formidable field this year. Challenges like these focus minds, foster positive habits and help deliver health benefits.
“Increasing participation in physical activity and reducing inactivity is a central part of the Government’s agenda as we shift from treatment to prevention in health, and target the inequalities caused by inactivity.”
Caroline Nokes, MP for Romsey and Southampton North, said: “Physical activity is a great way to support mental wellbeing, help manage stress, and create opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, spend time with others, and feel more energised.
“Fit for Office has been a great way to add some competitive motivation to my everyday fitness regimen.
“I know that being more active helps me focus, improves my mood and certainly enables me to sleep better at night. But putting MPs and their staff into a league that shows us how active we all are compared to each other means I have a goal to aim for every day, helping me raise my activity levels.”
“My job involves a lot of sitting still and concentrating on keeping debates orderly, so the best way to start the day is to get a quick run or walk in first thing.”
Andy MacNae, MP for Rossendale and Darwen, said: “I’ve really enjoyed taking part in the Fit for Office challenge again this year.
“It’s great to be able to do it alongside my office staff, and the effort and good spirit among the team has been brilliant.
“Staying active matters, not just for our own health but for how we show up and serve the community. My thanks to everyone who got involved.”
Cameron Saunders, CEO of ukactive, said: “It was great to see more records being broken again in this year’s Fit for Office challenge, with more MPs than ever getting involved to champion the importance of physical activity.
“Congratulations to the winners and everyone who took part, and a huge thank you to our partners Technogym and ukactive members who supported activity within their facilities.
“We hope the participants keep the momentum going and continue to inspire their colleagues to move more and ensure their constituents benefit from great fitness facilities in every community.”
Ben Sandham, Country Manager at Technogym UK, said: “We are delighted to see so many people across UK Parliamentary Services embracing an active lifestyle through the Fit for Office initiative.
“At Technogym, our mission is to help people live healthier and active lifestyles, so it has been fantastic to see such strong engagement with the initiative and the Technogym App, enabling participants to track their workouts, monitor their progress and stay motivated.
“Technogym is proud to partner on this initiative that promotes the importance of physical activity and we look forward to continuing to work with ukactive to promote physical activity in communities, organisations and facilities across the UK.”
