The ukactive Research Institute, Sheffield Hallam University’s Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre (AWRC), and Sport England are working together to map and better understand the ways the sport and physical activity sector currently engages people with Long-COVID.
The research project will look to add further depth to the current understanding and learning from organisations who are currently delivering physical activity to people with Long-COVID and the health services that are referring them. A specific focus will be on the approaches that have been taken to integrate physical activity into Long-COVID recovery in local areas to examine the similarities, differences and methods of delivery. This research is not intended as a study to build the scientific evidence base around the types, intensities, or frequencies of physical activity that may or may not be safe or beneficial for those with Long-COVID to engage in, although it is still an important area of research.
The project will kick off in January 2023 with findings to be shared through a written report, infographic and webinar presentation during the Summer of 2023.
