ukactive has today (22 July) announced its flagship event for 2021, with the ukactive Conference set to unite the physical activity sector in planning its future development and growth.
The ukactive Conference will take place on Wednesday 13 October at the Guildhall in London, combining the best ingredients from ukactive’s previous industry learning event, Active Uprising, and policy event, the ukactive National Summit.
ukactive is delighted to announce two headline supporters for the event; Miha Bodytec and the City of London Corporation, ensuring an unmissable day of fresh insight, learning and networking.
Leaders from across the sector will be joined by government policymakers and senior management from partner industries to hear from keynote speakers on stage, and discuss the agenda with expert panels at breakout sessions.
The event will be attended by ukactive Chair, Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson and the Lord Mayor, William Russell (pictured) and will examine lessons from the pandemic, and how the sector can grow as well as develop its influence in the nation’s recovery and future.
Strategic themes on the day will include Digital Transformation; Inclusion and Diversity; Children and Young People; Campaigns; and Social Prescribing and Health Links, drawing on new evidence from the ukactive Research Institute and partners.
Huw Edwards, CEO of ukactive, said: “Following the COVID-19 pandemic, it has never been more important for the physical activity sector to come together and share our vision for the future health, wellbeing and prosperity of our nation.
“It has been an incredibly challenging time for our sector, our organisations and our workforce, but through adversity we have strengthened our bond, forged new partnerships and reached new standards across the UK.
“Armed with evidence from our members, ukactive has led the discussions with our governments about the safety and importance of our sector, and the Conference offers a springboard to progress this conversation and maximise our role in the nation’s future.
“The ukactive Conference is a fantastic chance to explore the latest learnings, data and insights, plot our sector’s roadmap together, and break new ground in our mission to get more people active.”
Phil Horton, Country Director UK & ROI at Miha Bodytec, said: “The Miha Bodytec team is delighted to give its support as co-headline and keynote sponsor to the ukactive Conference, and we are looking forward to connecting in person once again with our industry.
“As the journey post-lockdown continues, we look forward to assisting operators, PTs and fitness professionals in their post-lockdown recovery, with member reactivation, new member attraction and increased yield per head.”
Lord Mayor William Russell, on behalf of the City of London Corporation, said: “The City of London Corporation is excited to be partnering with ukactive on this year’s ukactive Conference and we look forward to welcoming guests to Guildhall in October.
“The City Corporation recognises the importance of sport and physical activity to people’s wellbeing and the role it will play in delivering a successful recovery from the pandemic.
“The ukactive Conference will be a unique opportunity to bring together key influencers and discuss some of the main issues affecting the sport and leisure industry in the UK.
“We hope that this will in turn drive up participation in physical activity across the UK and lead to a healthier and happier population.”
Tickets for the ukactive Conference are available to purchase now from the ukactive website, priced £110 (plus VAT) each for ukactive members and £210 (plus VAT) for non-members. The full agenda and speakers will be released in September on the ukactive website and channels.
