ukactive has announced the winners of this year\u2019s Fit for Office challenge, which saw a record 268 MPs, Peers and Parliamentary staff compete to be the most physically active in Westminster.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Now in its fourth year, the month-long competition ran throughout June and encouraged Parliamentarians to move more in recognition of the role played by physical activity in supporting the nation\u2019s health, wellbeing, and growth.<\/p>\n

Delivered by ukactive in partnership with Technogym, the challenge worked by tracking participants\u2019 physical activity levels on the Technogym app. Users were awarded \u2018MOVE\u2019 points based on the intensity and duration of their activity.<\/p>\n

It was a record year for participation, marking year-on-year growth since the challenge began in 2023.

      The winning MPs were congratulated at Westminster by ukactive Senior Public Affairs & Policy Manager Stephen McLoughlin and Technogym UK Country Manager Ben Sandham, and the winning offices will receive their awards this week.<\/p>\n

      The campaign received widespread praise from Parliamentarians for encouraging them to be more active every day and recognise the importance of physical activity to the communities they serve.<\/p>\n

      This year\u2019s challenge comes as the Government battles the consequences of declining physical and mental health across the population. In addition to growing pressure on the NHS, last year 148 million working days were lost in the UK due to sickness, costing the economy \u00a314bn (ONS<\/a>).<\/p>\n

      By encouraging Parliamentarians to move more, the Fit for Office challenge highlights how physical activity can support not only individual health and wellbeing, but workplace productivity and wider economic growth.<\/p>\n

      According to the UK Health & Fitness Market Report 2026<\/a>, the physical activity sector generates more than \u00a37.5bn in social value by improving life satisfaction and reducing health conditions.<\/p>\n

      Stephanie Peacock, Minister for Sport and MP for Barnsley South, said:<\/strong> \u201cI was delighted to take part in this year\u2019s ukactive\u2019s Fit for Office Challenge. Staying physically active is incredibly important to me, both personally and as the Minister for Sport.<\/p>\n

      \u201cI\u2019d like to say thank you to ukactive for running the challenge and well done to all the offices that took part, it was a very formidable field this year. Challenges like these focus minds, foster positive habits and help deliver health benefits.<\/p>\n

      \u201cIncreasing participation in physical activity and reducing inactivity is a central part of the Government\u2019s agenda as we shift from treatment to prevention in health, and target the inequalities caused by inactivity.\u201d<\/p>\n

      Caroline Nokes, MP for Romsey and Southampton North, said:<\/strong> “Physical activity is a great way to support mental wellbeing, help manage stress, and create opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, spend time with others, and feel more energised.<\/p>\n

      \u201cFit for Office has been a great way to add some competitive motivation to my everyday fitness regimen.<\/p>\n

      \u201cI know that being more active helps me focus, improves my mood and certainly enables me to sleep better at night. But putting MPs and their staff into a league that shows us how active we all are compared to each other means I have a goal to aim for every day, helping me raise my activity levels.\u201d<\/p>\n

      \u201cMy job involves a lot of sitting still and concentrating on keeping debates orderly, so the best way to start the day is to get a quick run or walk in first thing.”<\/p>\n

      Andy MacNae, MP for Rossendale and Darwen, said:<\/strong> “I’ve really enjoyed taking part in the Fit for Office challenge again this year.<\/p>\n

      \u201cIt’s great to be able to do it alongside my office staff, and the effort and good spirit among the team has been brilliant.<\/p>\n

      \u201cStaying active matters, not just for our own health but for how we show up and serve the community. My thanks to everyone who got involved.”<\/p>\n
