other facilities in Wales from 10 August<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Meddai Huw Edwards, Prif Weithredwr ukactive:<\/strong> \u201cToday\u2019s confirmed reopening date means an end to much of the uncertainty for thousands of gyms and leisure facilities in Wales, including their customers and staff.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a health crisis, so we now look forward to playing our central role \u2013 using our facilities and staff to help combat COVID-19 by strengthening the physical and mental health of people in every community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know that many people in Wales have missed their favourite activities, workouts and sports over the past four months, and will be keen to return when their local facilities reopen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe health and safety of staff and customers is the number one priority for our sector.\u00a0Having demonstrated to the Welsh Government and public health officials the hygiene and social distancing measures in place, our sector looks forward to showing customers they can return to their gyms and leisure facilities safely and confidently.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s next?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Welsh Government has rightly recognised how hard the fitness and leisure sector has been hit by this crisis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe sector deserves huge credit for taking an innovative and proactive approach throughout lockdown, from helping to keep people active with online workouts to supporting our NHS with resources and donations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe ask the sector to use the new guidance to prepare well, and we will provide the support required to ensure this is an exciting return to action for our members and the customers they serve.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will continue to work with the Welsh Government to ensure the sector implements this guidance, as it has already done across England and Northern Ireland.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Add a line around \u2018this is only the beginning and we will continue working with Gov to make
