{"id":19153,"date":"2019-09-20T12:41:53","date_gmt":"2019-09-20T11:41:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ukactive.com\/news\/prevention-in-the-2020s-fit-techs-role\/"},"modified":"2019-09-20T12:41:53","modified_gmt":"2019-09-20T11:41:53","slug":"prevention-in-the-2020s-fit-techs-role","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ukactive.com\/cy\/news\/prevention-in-the-2020s-fit-techs-role\/","title":{"rendered":"Prevention in the 2020\u2019s: Fit-Tech\u2019s Role"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The physical activity sector is increasingly being recognised for its importance in supporting both our physical and mental health.\u00a0 The role technology has to play in this is undeniable \u2013 however making sure technology\u2019s impact is net positive is the challenge.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.activelab.co\/\">ActiveLab<\/a> is already demonstrating that technology is being used in impactful ways to get more people, more active, more often.\u00a0 From the innovative start-ups ActiveLab works with, through to operators and suppliers adopting technologies to provide new and exciting physical activity experiences.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This is why we want your innovative products, approaches and expertise to inform our collective response to the <\/strong><strong>new government consultation on the future of prevention.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Technology and prevention are now embedded at the heart of the Department of Health and Social Care. The Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Matt Hancock, made it clear at the recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/speeches\/how-we-make-public-health-fit-for-the-future\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Public Health England Annual Conference<\/a> that technology plays a crucial role in future of \u201cpersonalised prevention\u201d at the front line of the NHS. \u00a0This combined with the newly formed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhsx.nhs.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NHSX<\/a> division, technology is now driving the future of healthcare in the UK.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It is our responsibility to demonstrate the adoption of fit-tech is recognised as the combination of the prevention and technology agendas throughout the NHS<\/strong>.\u00a0 The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/consultations\/advancing-our-health-prevention-in-the-2020s\">\u2018Advancing our health: prevention in the 2020s<\/a>\u2019 consultation represents our first chance to do this.<\/p>\n<p>This consultation seeks to inform the Prevention Green Paper which will outline the government\u2019s vision for a new approach for the health and care system \u2013 putting prevention at the centre of all its decision making.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Our opportunity<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ukactive and ActiveLab sees this as a clear opportunity for the innovators in the physical activity sector to provide their expertise and leadership in improving public health.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019d like to hear from you about how you have used technology to enable older adults, those with long-term conditions or those in socio-economically deprived areas get active.\u00a0 Be that individual products, specific programmes or innovative partnerships demonstrating the impact technology can have in our sector.<\/p>\n<p>This enables us to demonstrate the power of technology to get more people active together.
