{"id":19046,"date":"2019-04-01T09:30:17","date_gmt":"2019-04-01T08:30:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ukactive.com\/news\/collaboration-is-key-nothings-off-the-table\/"},"modified":"2019-04-01T09:30:17","modified_gmt":"2019-04-01T08:30:17","slug":"collaboration-is-key-nothings-off-the-table","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ukactive.com\/cy\/news\/collaboration-is-key-nothings-off-the-table\/","title":{"rendered":"Collaboration is key: nothing\u2019s off the table"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>James Clack, Client Services Manager, Active IQ<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2018Collaboration is key\u2019 is a well-worn phrase but, like many clich\u00e9s, it happens to be true.\u00a0 The leisure industry is alive with collaborations, partnerships, associations\u2026. call them what you will.\u00a0 As Client Services Manager at a sector-leading awarding organisation, it\u2019s no surprise I spend much of my day working with experts in the industry pooling resources and sharing best practice. The leisure sector is evolving quickly with service providers and their consumers equally hungry for the latest knowledge and insight to further their game.<\/p>\n<p>I aim to keep up with trends and research and stay alert to consumer demand, industry legislation and the wider health and wellness agenda.\u00a0 It\u2019s a full-time job in itself which is why I look to a raft of experts in a variety of fields to support our work and resources.\u00a0 Take the medical field for example.\u00a0 We can\u2019t possibly keep up with the stream of research and medical findings \u2013 nor can we revise our qualifications as quickly as changes occur.\u00a0 But through working closely with our Chief Medical Adviser, <a href=\"https:\/\/ukactive.com\/cy\/blog\/the-importance-of-mental-health-awareness-for-the-physical-activity-sector\/\">Dr Dane Vishnubala<\/a>, we stay up-to-date: he disseminates the key information ready for us to share through communications and resources to our centres, training providers and learners.<\/p>\n<p>As any good training provider will tell you, qualifications are the beginning of the journey, not the destination, the point which reveals potential pathways.\u00a0 While our primary role is to design, quality assure and award qualifications, people increasingly look to us to provide greater access to a wide range of resources to strengthen their skillset and broaden their knowledge.<\/p>\n<p>Our <a href=\"https:\/\/fitpro.com\/activeiq\/skillshub\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Skills Hub<\/a> resource is the \u2018home\u2019 for much of this extra material.\u00a0 Online, accessible 24-7 and split into discrete sections for ease-of-access, it is growing in stature.\u00a0 As you\u2019d expect, CPD is the most popular section with the majority of users accessing materials and content online.<\/p>\n<p>What you may NOT expect is the high demand for access to associated skills as diverse as setting up your business to learning Taxonomy, funding and policy to business and marketing.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Clearly not all these areas are our forte \u2013 which is why we work in collaboration with professionals who can bring much more to the table.<\/p>\n<p>We already have Beej Kaczmarczyk from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.e-memoir.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">e-Memoir<\/a> sharing insights on all things funding and policy and coming on board soon are Ben Coomber and Tom Bainbridge from <a href=\"https:\/\/btn.academy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BTN Academy<\/a> demystifying nutrition. Next, we have an ex-Ofsted inspector giving guidance on how to prep for an Ofsted inspection.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re actively looking to work with more individuals and businesses who have something to offer.\u00a0 Think broadly and think widely \u2013 we\u2019re looking for fresh ideas, new concepts and emerging opportunities to deliver via webinar, downloadable resources and podcasts.<\/p>\n<p>We want to engage with anyone who feels passionate enough about something to discuss and debate it.\u00a0 Our new project \u2013 working title 90:3 \u2013 will comprise a 90-second video supported by three slides presented by experts who want to give people a snapshot of their insight.\u00a0 We\u2019re looking for bright new influencers and established practitioners, industry disruptors and familiar faces.<\/p>\n<p>Keeping current through collaborations is the aim: connecting with as many industry leaders and influencers as possible to keep the discussion open and flowing.\u00a0 This
