ukactive has announced a three-year strategic partnership with leading independent construction group Willmott Dixon, supporting the firm’s plans to bring their construction expertise to the physical activity sector.
Willmott Dixon is one of the UK’s most prolific constructors of leisure facilities – in the past 10 years the company has built more than 100 pools and 70 leisure facilities for private, public and educational sector customers. It has also built more 50-metre pools than any other contractor. The link-up is part of Willmott Dixon’s aim to be at the forefront of new learning in the fast-growing sector.
As part of the agreement, Willmott Dixon will become the headline sponsor for Active Uprising, supporting ukactive in delivering the brand new multi-day celebration of physical activity at Manchester Central on 20-23 June.
The firm joined ukactive last year but has today (10 May) extended its partnership, with the deal also including an agreement to become co-sponsor of ukactive’s National Summit in 2019.
ukactive will continue to deliver long-term strategic support to Willmott Dixon, drawing on its expertise and membership base within the UK fitness market to help facilitate deeper engagement between the construction group and operators in the sports and physical activity sector.
CEO of ukactive Steven Ward said: “It’s fantastic that we have developed this strategic partnership with Willmott Dixon and we greatly appreciate their support for Active Uprising, which is set to be a game-changing event for the physical activity sector.
“We look forward to working closely with Willmott Dixon as part of its plans to increase the opportunities for operators in our sector to reimagine leisure stock and get the most from our built environments.”
National Leisure Sector Lead of Willmott Dixon, Stephen Parker said: “For us as a contractor, it is more than just the bricks and mortar that create a building, but the legacy created that forms the foundation of people’s lives. We are delighted to be in a position to support ukactive to help drive the physical activity agenda.”
