ukactive is seeking a new Chair of its Membership Council with previous incumbent David Stalker completing his transition from the organisation at the end of April 2016.

The Membership Council is the formal elected voice of the membership base in ukactive governance, reporting to the ukactive Board, and taking on challenging topics of substance for the sector, such as the on-going issues relating to skills and workforce development.

ukactive has responded to the new Sport England Strategy, Towards an Active Future, and welcomed the extra dedicated funding to turn the tide on inactivity.

‘iPad Kids’ at risk of long-term poor health as parents struggle to wean children off gadgets

 The rise in tablet and smartphone use of young children is creating long-term health risks for the UK as a new ukactive poll of parents suggests that almost nine in ten British mums and dads (87 per cent) feel that increased use of tablets and smartphones by children has contributed to a decline in the amount of exercise they do.
