Baroness Grey-Thompson will appeal to employers to treat provision of physical activity throughout the working day 'with the same importance as annual and sick leave', to achieve a much-needed culture shift in office life; suggesting more employers should incorporate activity plans, corporate gym memberships and sit-stand desks.

In response to research shared by the British Heart Foundation National Centre, showing that 91% of all 2-4 year olds fail to meet the three hours of activity a day recommended by the Chief Medical Officer, Steven Ward, Executive Director of ukactive, commented: "Modern lifestyles mean children are exposed to environments not always helpful for creating active habits.

The Government has today announced its new approach to sport and physical activity in the UK in its strategy 'Sporting Future: A New Strategy for an Active Nation.' Their plans will see a broad expansion in the remit of Sport England, specific funding set aside to tackle physical inactivity and ukactive's Chair, Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, appointed to chair a new Government Working Group.
